Tutoring jobs, online and in-home

Tutor the subjects you know best, at the times that suit you.

KeirEd is hiring tutors for one-on-one lessons from Prep to Year 12. You can teach online from anywhere in Australia, or in students’ homes in the capital cities, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. We find the families and bill them, so your time goes into teaching.

The job

You teach one student at a time

Families keep the same tutor each week, so you get to know your students and see their progress across the term.

  • You pick your students.

When a family matches your subjects, year levels, times and location, we send you their details. You decide whether to take them on.

  • You choose online, in-home, or both.

Online lessons run on Lessonspace, a shared whiteboard that opens in the browser with nothing to download. In-home lessons happen at the student’s home or a local library.

  • You keep the parent informed.

After every lesson you send the parent a short written note about what you covered. Every 10 lessons you write a progress report.

What we handle

We find the students and handle the billing

The work most tutors find hardest is finding families and getting paid. We take care of both.

  • We find the families.

We advertise across Australia and speak with each family before we match them with a tutor.

  • Families see your profile first.

Before the first lesson, the family sees your tutor profile, so they know who is coming and why you were chosen.

  • We book the first lesson.

We book each student’s first lesson with you. After that, you arrange lesson times directly with the family.

  • We bill families in advance.

Families are billed each week before their lessons, so you never have to chase a payment.

Who we’re looking for

Teachers and high achievers who can explain things clearly

Our tutors are a mix of qualified teachers and students or graduates who did very well in the subjects they teach. You don’t need a teaching degree. You do need to know your subjects well and be able to explain them to a student who is stuck.

  • You’re 18 or older and have the right to work in Australia.
  • You hold a current Working With Children Check, or you’re willing to get one before your first lesson.
  • You know your subjects well, through teaching, study or strong results.
  • For in-home lessons, you have a driver’s licence and your own car.
  • For online lessons, you have a laptop and a reliable internet connection.
