Answer a few questions and pick a time. Jake calls you for 15 minutes to ask what your child needs help with and which times suit your family.
We choose the tutor
One of us picks the tutor from what you told Jake. Within 48 hours we text and email you the tutor’s profile and a time for the first lesson.
The first lesson
The tutor finds where your child is up to and starts on the topic causing trouble. If it isn’t the right fit, you don’t pay for it.
Every week after that
Your child keeps the same tutor. You get a written note after every lesson and a progress report every 10 lessons.
Our first-lesson promise
If the tutor isn’t right for your child after the first lesson, tell us. You won’t be charged, and we’ll line up someone else. If the fit stops working later on, we rematch you at no cost.

Who we are
Jake and Leah run KeirEd themselves
KeirEd Tutoring is a Brisbane tutoring business run from Mount Gravatt East by Jake Keir and Leah Hider, since 2025. Jake talks with every 1:1 family before the first lesson, and one of us chooses the tutor.
Leah is a qualified teacher, registered with the Queensland College of Teachers. She has taught in classrooms for a year since qualifying, after four years of classroom placements while she studied, and she has tutored for seven years. Jake has a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology.
We help parents make sure their children have the skills and knowledge to improve their grades quickly and consistently.

How much does it cost?
1:1 tutoring is $79 per one-hour lesson online and $99 per one-hour lesson in your home, with no package to buy.
Programs are enrolled per subject for a term. We go through the fees on the free call, and payment plans are available.
Can we try it first?
Yes. If the first 1:1 lesson isn’t the right fit, you don’t pay for it.
For 1:1 tutoring, no card is needed until after the first lesson.
For Programs, your child can join a class for a free trial lesson after the free call, before you decide anything.
Is it in-home or online?
1:1 tutoring can be in your home in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart or Darwin, or online anywhere in Australia. Programs run online only.
A home tutor comes at the time you agree, depending on tutor availability in your area.
Online lessons run on Lessonspace, a shared whiteboard with video. Your child joins from a link on a laptop or tablet, with nothing to download. Online 1:1 lessons and every Program class are recorded, so your child can rewatch an explanation before a test.
What happens on the free call?
Booking either call doesn’t sign you up to anything, and there’s no payment.
For 1:1 tutoring, it’s a 15-minute Tutor Match Call with Jake, by phone. He asks what your child needs help with and which times suit your family, and we match a tutor within 48 hours.
For Programs, it’s a 15-minute Program Discovery Call by phone. We talk through your child’s situation and whether a Program is the right next step.
How do you choose my child’s tutor?
One of us chooses the tutor from what you tell Jake on the call, and you see the tutor’s profile before the first lesson.
Jake asks about the subject and year level, how your child learns, what hasn’t worked before and which times suit your family. We usually send you the tutor’s profile within 48 hours.
If the first lesson isn’t the right fit, you don’t pay for it and we find a different tutor. If the fit stops working later on, we rematch you at no cost.
Do we have to commit for a set time?
Not for 1:1 tutoring. There’s no package or minimum, and you can pause or stop any time.
A 1:1 lesson cancelled with at least 8 hours’ notice isn’t charged. Programs have a minimum commitment of one term.
What’s the difference between 1:1 tutoring and a Program?
1:1 tutoring is one tutor working with your child, online or in your home, on the work they have at school that week. It covers every subject from Prep to Year 12, anywhere in Australia.
A Program is a weekly live online class of 7 or fewer for Queensland students in Years 7 to 12, taught by a qualified teacher. It includes workbooks, practice exams, class recordings and unlimited one-on-one video consultations.
Which year levels and subjects do you cover?
1:1 tutoring covers every school subject from Prep to Year 12, including senior subjects and exam preparation for HSC, VCE, QCE, WACE, SACE, TCE, NTCET and IB, plus NAPLAN and selective school entry.
Programs run Maths for Years 7 to 10 and English for Years 7 and 8 this term. We confirm Science and senior class times on the call.
For Years 11 and 12 in Queensland, you can estimate an ATAR from QCE results with our free calculator.
We don’t live in Queensland. Can we still work with you?
Yes. 1:1 tutoring runs online anywhere in Australia, and in your home in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and the other capital cities, depending on tutor availability in your area.
Programs follow the Queensland curriculum and the QCAA syllabuses, so they are for Queensland students.
